ネコでも作ろうと思えば野生の近縁種や大型種を掛け合わせて
もっと大きい猫種を作れると思いますし、
可能なら手っ取り早く、トラやライオンを数世代にわたって
大人しい性格の個体を選別して繁殖させ家畜化することもできるでしょう。
でも、道を歩いていて体高1mの野良ネコがいたら、あなたは恐くないですか？
100kg近くにもなる犬種を特別な許可無しに飼えるのに、
イエネコ以外のネコ科の動物を飼うのに保健所と警察の許可がいるのは何故でしょうか。
なぜなら、イヌとネコでは戦闘力が違い過ぎるからです。
セントバーナードやマスチフと同大のネコはピューマやヒョウですが
ピューマは体重350kgもあるグリズリー（アメリカクロクマ）より強い猛獣です。
30kgほどのオオヤマネコでも、シカやイノシシを殺します。
今のネコの大きさ(3～12kg)が普通に人が危険無く飼える限界なのです。
